RYE DEMISE

IPA  ABV 6.9%  IBU 40 Fermentables: 2-row, Rye Hops: Columbus, Mosaic, Simcoe, Ekuanot Rye Demise is a bit of a moving target. Originally, we brewed it as an IPA. Last year, we dubbed it a pale ale, with a lower ABV and a restrained bitterness and hoppiness. This latest batch is still in that same mid-5% ABV range, but we used more assertive IPA type hops, specifically Mosaic and Simcoe. You can expect flavors and aromas of stone fruit, berry, and pine, with a crisp, dry finish, thanks to the …

2 Minutes to Midnight Releases Feb. 26th and 27th

2 Minutes to Midnight Releases Feb. 26th and 27th After a couple planning sessions, a very fun brew day, several weeks in the fermenter, the addition of vanilla, chili peppers, and chocolate from Sarver’s Speckled Hen Chocolate Company, an enjoyable back-and-forth exchange over the beer’s eventual name, and the anxious wait for bottle label approval, we are happy to report that 2 Minutes to Midnight, an Imperial Stout created in collaboration with Caliente Pizza & Draft House, is ready for you to consume! When our initial collective ideas started to …

Screamin’ Danger IPA: Made in Collaboration with Coheed and Cambria

Screamin’ Danger IPA: Made in Collaboration with Coheed and Cambria It started with a tweet. It ended with a kick-ass beer. If you were unaware, yours truly and both our brewers, Steve Ilnicki and James Evans, are HUGE Coheed and Cambria fans. Many days, the brewhouse is bumpin’ to the tracks of Coheed while brand new beers go from recipe to reality. It makes for a pretty productive work environment, I have to admit. In fact, Spoonwood’s Double IPA, Good Eye Sniper, earned its name from a lyric in the …

Shopping to be done, gifts to be wrapped, cookies to bake, parties to attend, family gatherings to coordinate and execute. Oh, and in the midst of all that…menial tasks like going to work and cleaning the house. It’s a world gone mad these 31 days. Personally, I try to keep things level and balanced by never forgetting the true meaning of the holiday …

Bringing You Glad Tidings and a Killer New Menu!

Bringing You Glad Tidings and a Killer New Menu! That special time of year is upon us, friends. Before we know it, the ground will be covered with a blank white canvas of snow. Friends and family will gather around the table and share a home-cooked meal of turkey and all the fixings. Football will glow on TV sets as people slip in and out of tryptophan-induced comas. Stores will be overrun with folks looking to bust doors and elbow drop their fellow man in the name of low-cost bath …

Spoonwood Brewing to Collaborate with Caliente on BIG Imperial Stout

Spoonwood and Caliente to Join Forces A collaboration beer is a special brew designed and constructed by two or more entities that allows the talents of all those involved to shine. Working collaboratively exemplifies the camaraderie the craft beer industry has and presents a product to enthusiasts they don’t find on an everyday basis. Typically, collabs are born when multiple breweries come together. But, as we are about to learn, inspiration to build a great beer doesn’t just come from a brewhouse. Caliente Pizza & Draft House has become one …
